Words from Luke

Luke, "Mom, uhm Sarah can't hear right?"

Me, "Yes, Luke that is right."

Luke, "Will she hear when she is 3 Mom?"

Me, "I don't know Luke."

Luke, "How about when she is 4?"

Me, "I don't know that either Luke"

This line of questioning continued until Sarah reached 20 years old....

Then finally, Luke, "Well, Mom you know she can swing so that's cool."

Gotta love my Luke!!!!

Mark 10:14 "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."

He Will Provide

Wow! I had a fantastic meeting last night with a lovely woman who works for the school district as a deaf educator. I will just refer to her as Ann, I did not ask if her if I could blog about her:) For those of you asking why....our precious little Sarah is deaf.

Ann actually contacted us and offered her help at no charge!!! She heard about our situation from a colleague and just wants to help. God is so good! We met for about an hour and plan on meeting every week for the foreseeable future. She is a wealth of information and has already given us some wonderful ideas to help with the transition. Bless this woman.

On a similar note Dave and I met with an ENT doctor this past Monday. Amazing man he also just took time out of his day to explain all of our options. I emailed him (never met him before) he called me and has been so kind. He was encouraging and realistic at the same time. He is about as excited as we are to meet Sarah!

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

Half and Half

As I was making the coffee this morning I had to open a new container of half and half. The expiration date was 06/10/10.....immediately I thought will I been in China on June 10th 2010?? Will we have met Sarah face to face by then???? It reminded me of all of my other pregnancies as I reached the finish line I began to measure everything by when the baby(ies) is(are) due. With Joseph, David and Luke they were all early, 2 short pregnancies and 3 kiddos to show for it. With Sarah what seems like the world's longest pregnancy:) I have to remind myself it is all in God's timing and not my own.

Word's of wisdom from my Father (the earthly one) when I was begging the doctors to please just let me have Jospeh and David already, "Katie, they are much easier to take care of in your belly!" Wow, no truer words were ever spoken.

Catching Up!

Well we are up and running! This is my first blog ever so I apologize in advance for any errors. We are entering into an incredible journey to expand our already blessed family and thought this would be the best way to share the experience with all of our family and friends.

A "reader's digest version" of the events that have gotten us this far. In the Fall of 2006 Dave and I decided we wanted to adopt a little girl from China. At that time the process was about 18 months......fast forward to Fall of 2009, the process has lengthened and lengthened. What does this mean for us and our family? Is God telling us this is not the path to follow? After prayer and consideration I felt a resounding "No" to that question. We decided to begin looking at the "waiting child" list of children from our adoption agency. This is a heart wrenching process because there are so many children waiting for "forever families". After many months and much prayer we find Jingya, Sarah May. She is an adorable 2 1/2 year old girl who is currently living in a foster home on the southern coast of China. Currently, we are in the paper chase process, awaiting approval for travel to China and an appointment at the Consulate to seal the deal.

Joseph, David and Luke are as anxious as Dave and I are to embrace the newest member of our family.

One of my favorites scriptures to reflect on during this time of transition is
Jer: 29:11 "I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future." This is God's promise to all of us, very comforting.

One difficult part of this journey has been losing my wonderful Mother this past Fall. I miss her daily and would love her to be here to share this blessing. However, I know that she is with me in spirit. The lifetime she spent loving me unconditionally has helped to prepare me for the challenges ahead.

Blessings!
